Building links, or what are commonly referred to as backlinks to your site can be a way to increase natural as well as organic search engine traffic. Search engines like when your site has a couple of links from different domains, including higher quality domains, so this can boost your ranking in the SERP's (search engine rankings). You also want to shoot for sites that are related or closer related to the theme of your website/blog (although it doesn't have to be).

Also remember that links on other sites, just like with the Day #1 tip can get natural traffic from people following links over to your site, so somewhat related sites help with this. You can get links from directories, forums, and any kind of related site back to yours. This is where good quality content or websites really help to build backlinks, as people are more likely and willingly to link to a useful highly relevant site that provides a useful feature or content they are interested in or is helpful to others. This will greatly improves your backlinks, especially the ones that you don't have to create.

Day #1 - Link Exchange

Link exchange, or exchanging links with a site from the same genre or a similar category as yours can help to boost traffic, both directly and indirectly, (through SEO).

Link exchanging can not only benefit your site by driving traffic from relevant sources and sites, but can also help to improve traffic from search engines through link exchanging. Try to contact webmasters from similar sites to see if you can exchange links with relevant sites, that is you place a link to their site on your site or blog, and they do the same for you on their site or blog, hence a link exchange.
